The Mission of ABC
Love God. Love People.
Jesus replied: “ ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ (Matthew 22:37-39)
Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. (Matthew 28:19)
Create a place where lost and broken people can experience authentic community under biblical authority in a compassionate culture.
Authentic Community – “Me Too”
Avalon Bible Church believes that belonging to a church community is the best way to pursue Jesus’ teachings of grace and truth. A “me too” community is one where all members recognize that we are lost and broken without the sacrifice of Jesus and the grace of God. Avalon Bible Church is a community of people who are “doing life” together, while learning to be disciples of Jesus Christ. [Acts 2:42-47 and 4:32-35]
Biblical Authority – “Life’s Instruction Manual”
Avalon Bible Church believes that the Bible is the inerrant word of God. Both the Old and New Testaments point directly to our need for a savior. While God’s words to us in the Bible may be considered politically incorrect in our society, Avalon will continue to teach exactly as the Bible is written. All scripture applies to our society today. [Matthew 5:17-19 and 2 Timothy 3:16]
Compassionate Culture – “Safe Place to Meet Jesus”
Avalon Bible Church believes that all people are lost and broken without God. We are all eternally separated from God without the love and sacrifice of Jesus Christ. All of our lives are messy in their own ways. A compassionate culture is one where we all bring our brokenness and seek the truth and grace of Jesus together. Avalon Bible Church is a safe place for all people to come learn about Jesus and experience His love to the fullest. We must also realize that we must go out into the world to reach people where they are, with no expectation that they will ever come to us. [James 1:27 and Colossians 3:12-17]
